J.J. Spaun held a share of the lead at 11 under as he made his way to the back nine at TPC Sawgrass. But there was a time on the ninth hole during the final round where Spaun could have played his way out of the tournament, only to figure out a way to use the Rules of Golf to his advantage and keep his momentum going. |

| ⛳ Uber expensive switch. Last Saturday, McIlroy treated his clubs to a $995 Uber ride to Bay Hill Club & Lodge in Orlando – hope it was Uber Black – so that McIlroy could swap in his old reliable sticks for the latest and greatest from TaylorMade that he had played for the first three days. Those same clubs were in action again this week at the Players Championship. ⛳ Streak snapped. It was a top 20 for Scottie Scheffler on Sunday, but no three-peat. Scheffler’s hopes of an unprecedented third consecutive trophy at the PGA Tour’s flagship event fizzled out, finishing with a 4-under 284 for the tournament. ⛳ Bag split. Matt Fitzpatrick and Billy Foster were already living on borrowed time. But after Fitzpatrick’s missed cut at the Players Championship, Foster took to social media to reveal that they had agreed to split altogether after six years together. ⛳ High-risk vantage. Where can you find the best view at TPC Sawgrass? Conventional wisdom would say one of the luxury boxes behind the 17th hole’s iconic island green, but conventional wisdom is too boring, too safe. No, if you want the best view of the Players Championship, you have to take a bit of risk. |
